HELLO.

Thanks for taking a look around my online portfolio. My name is Shawna Simmons and I am a recent December graduate from the University of South Carolina, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Visual Communications and a minor in Photography. My dream job? To become a high fashion photographer. I have been expanding my portfolio on my own by styling the hair, make up, and wardrobe myself for every shoot, and recruiting my friends as models. Now, I know that pursuing my dream will not be possible in Columbia, South Carolina, which is why I am willing to move anywhere it takes. New York City? Sure. California? Absolutely. Milan? I have my passport ready to go!

However, unlike hundreds of other budding photographers with the same vision, I have soo much more to offer. Not only am I capable of taking visually compelling photographs, but I am a graphic designer as well which means I can create logos, business cards, posters, web pages, print advertisements...you name it.

I also have experience working with a non-profit organization doing public relations and event planning. In fact, during my internship was given the huge responsibility to plan every single detail for a major event, with very successful results. I had to multi-task between managing a group of students and running group meetings, making cold calls, booking celebrity appearances, scheduling television and radio remotes, and organizing volunteers. On top of that, I was also an event photographer and the in-house graphic designer responsible for creating two digital billboard designs featured at 11 locations around Columbia.

I have a broad background with a wide range of creative skills. I think outside of the box and I am not afraid afraid to step completely outside of my comfort zone in life and with my work.
